Clayton grew up in Sugar land, Texas. He graduated from Texas State University in 2007, and earned his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2010.
Clayton’s practice is focused on advising oil and gas companies with all aspects of their upstream operations, with emphasis on leasing, acquisition issues, and oil and gas title opinions. Over the years, Clayton has developed a reputation for his ability to find solutions which meet the needs of both the legal and business minded. As a result, he has become a trusted advisor to identify practical, efficient, and inexpensive fixes for operators’ everyday problems.
Prior to forming Kuiper Wheat & Associates, Clayton worked for a nationally recognized oil and gas firm in Houston, and as a field landman in the Uintah Basin and Eagle Ford Shale. Clayton is licensed to practice law in Texas (Oil, Gas, and Energy Resources Section) and North Dakota (Real Property, Trusts, and Probate Section), and is a member of the Houston Producer’s Forum; West Houston Area Association of Petroleum Landmen; Young Professionals in Energy; and the Texas Young Lawyer’s Association.
